About
Tech Connect Group (TCG) was introduced to Sigma at a time when the business was facing a persistent hiring challenge. A niche engineering role had remained unfilled despite being released to multiple suppliers, highlighting both the complexity of the requirement and the scarcity of suitable candidates in the market. With increasing customer demand placing pressure on delivery, securing the right talent quickly became a priority.
Process
From the outset, TCG approached the challenge with a hands-on, consultative mindset. By visiting Sigma’s site, we developed a clear understanding of their operations, culture and technical requirements, allowing us to align our search strategy with the realities of the business.
We worked closely with key stakeholders to provide market insight and shape a practical, effective hiring approach. Throughout the process, communication remained consistent, transparent and proactive, ensuring Sigma had full visibility at every stage.
Following the successful placement of the initial role, TCG was invited onto Sigma’s preferred supplier list. Continued delivery and a strong working relationship led to a transition from supplier to partner, where we agreed a 2-year exclusive agreement.
After a challenging few months of having vacancies for a few technically specific roles at our Hinckley and Farnborough sites, I was introduced to Joe Collins at Tech Connect. At our initial meeting, Joe outlined their approach to finding the right candidates and presented some research he had done regarding the technical roles we had been struggling to fill. With this research, Tech Connect adapted their approach and ultimately found candidates that filled those vacancies, where all previous agencies had failed. Our partnership with Tech Connect has been instrumental in building a high-performing team at both sites. With their deep understanding of the precision engineering sector, and consistent delivery of top-tier talent, they have become a trusted recruitment partner for us.

The Outcome
Since entering into an exclusive partnership, TCG has supported Sigma Components across a wide range of hires, including skilled manufacturing, niche engineering, finance and HR. Over this period, we have delivered 21 hires and achieved a fill rate of 75%, consistently providing high-quality candidates aligned to the business’s needs.
This has had a direct impact on operations, particularly across the shopfloor, where critical hires have contributed to reducing backlog and improving on-time delivery to customers.
Beyond the results, the relationship has continued to strengthen, with TCG now operating as a trusted extension of the business. Our understanding of Sigma’s requirements, combined with a consistent and reliable approach, has enabled long-term success on both sides.
