We are currently recruiting a Commercial Engineering Graduate to work for a leading Aerospace business in Southampton. The ideal candidate will have recently graduated and have keen interest in Engineering and desire to work within a commercial environment.


  • Assisting the Commercial & Programme management function as required.

  • Develop presentations, agendas and correspondence to support bid / no bid decisions, site lifecycle management gates and project meetings where necessary.

  • New Business proposals including:

    • Creating (populate) an Excel® based business model, applying rates and factors to cost information in order to establish price.

    • Liaison across all functions (design engineering, tooling, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, quality & finance) to develop, and analyse both new and existing non-recurring & recurring costs.

    • Review and understand all customer technical data (drawings, specifications, CAD models) in order to generate a granular commercial assessment.

  • In addition to new proposals, pricing support will be required for:

    • Contract pricing extensions (including contractual escalation)

    • Modifications and changes

    • Spares

    • Return to Works (RTW)

    • Customer price lists (CPL)

    • Claims

  • Develop cost analysis including trade studies and Design to Cost (DtC)

  • Customer interaction as required to negotiate spares, repairs orders, whilst also supporting larger bid negotiations.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Preferably Degree in Engineering (Ideally aeronautical, mechanical, manufacturing, design or production) Finance / Law / Business / or other relevant field considered.

  • Alternatively have a relevant apprenticeship / HNC / HND with suitable experience.

  • Sound commercial acumen, attention to detail, general business understanding.

  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Excel® in particular) are essential.

  • Ability to contribute effectively to team-working and group discussions.
