We are currently recruiting a Composite Project Engineer to work for a leading manufacturing organisation in Hampshire.

Job Purpose

To assist the Project Manager to lead and execute engineering projects for the development of

new/existing projects and processes.

To support the production of tooling and components by maintaining all project/component specific

systems, preparing production documentation, enabling kit creation and resolving issues during

production.

Work with the customer and design teams to determine specifications, production methods &

materials. Create drawings and build documentation to support manufacture and provide hands on

and technical support throughout the life of the projects.

Key Tasks

  • To support engineering with tooling (Design and setup of Composite and Metallic Production

  • tooling) and component manufacturing projects, developing and assisting in new designs

  • and processes

  • Technical support on the manufacture of composites (Direct Injection Resin Infusion, Pre-

  • preg, Wet-lay with vacuum bagging etc.)

  • To ensure that internal databases (Quality and MRP) are maintained with latest product

  • information

  • To produce product specification project plans

  • To monitor and co-ordinate with internal and external suppliers

  • To review and interrogate designs and CAD drawings

  • Produce Bill of Materials (BOMs) and assist in creating detailed instructions for manufacture

  • To assist in the creation and maintenance of FMEA and product validation

  • Work closely with production teams to communicate project/product specific manufacturing

  • Highlight and resolve issues during production, requesting support where required

Key Skills/Experience

  • Mechanical/Composite engineering

  • Product and Process development

  • Knowledge in both 2D and 3D CAD

  • DFM knowledge

  • FMEA knowledge

  • Knowledge of composite pre-preg and wet layup processes

  • Knowledge of drawing standards and GD&T would be advantageous

  • Maintenance of BOMs

  • Creation of technical documentation

  • Computer literate (MS Office – Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Project management qualification.

  • Vocational qualification in relevant field (Composite Manufacture).
