Our client, a market leader for automated manufacturing systems, are looking for an experienced Design Leader to join their team in Coventry.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design on designated Special Purpose Machine project(s); guiding & managing a team of designers and liaising with other engineering disciplines (Process, Layout, Simulation, Controls) to ensure a complete engineering solution is developed
Scope & timing management of mechanical design activities on designated project(s)
Work closely with Engineering Leader / Engineer Manager for scope / timing / resource planning and tracking
Allocate tasks to designers appropriately within the team based on alignment of application / complexity to skillset & experience
Liaise with commodity suppliers to ensure equipment selected is suitable for the application & get supplier sign-off prior to release to manufacture
Manage & guide external design contractors working on or off site to ensure they are effectively integrated into the engineering team
Support manufacturing, assembly & site teams with design queries & clarification
Mentor graduates / apprentices / junior design engineers to support their personal development
Overall Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience with increasing skill, knowledge, and responsibility level.
Relevant Engineering Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree
