​We are currently seeking a Head of Engineering to work for a growing composites specialist in Oxfordshire.

Reporting to the company Director, the Head Engineering & Project Management will oversee the running of all the company’s projects and work in close collaboration with the Head of Manufacturing.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a company involved in some highly innovative projects and with ambitious expansion plans.

The salary for this position ranges between £70,000 – 90,000 depending on experience, with additional financial incentives on offer.

Essential candidate pre-requisites include;

·        A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the composites sector

·        A very good understanding of Composites Design and FEA

·        The ability to supervise and support an engineering team

·        A solid understanding of composite materials and processes – in order to calculate customer quotations

·        Thorough understanding of the composite manufacturing processes – in order to successfully manage a variety of projects

·        A degree in a relevant engineering discipline

Additional information relating to the position:

·        Responsible for the Manufacturing Schedule (Engineering Team) based on Sales Orders and lead in the reconciliation process with the Capacity-Resource Schedule (Manufacturing Team) based on the Works Orders

·        Organising all work documentation, defining the workflow with Head of Manufacturing and defining the required organisational support in order to ensure a transparent and safe flow through the production.

·        Define and implement the quality assurance gateways along the manufacturing process from design to delivery with Head of Manufacturing.

·        Support the quality assurance engineer and ensure the required processes for new projects to be in line with AS 9100 with support of the quality assurance engineer.

·        Lead the inspection and material testing know how development (Instron, acoustic emission, ultra-sonic testing, bond master).

·        Supervise, support, and manage project engineers on their dedicated projects.

·        Evaluate and manage quotations for outsourced tools and materials with the engineering team and Sales support.

·        Manage Purchase order (internal and external), works order, work description and delivery note documents through ERP system.

·        Support management team on acquisition of new projects and manage point of contact for communications with customers.

·        Manage progress / performance throughout project cycle.

·        Manage relevant documentation of the project process (from start to finish) – Work documentation, PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPs and Visual Aids.

·        Provide project controlling reports on regular basis (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly) for all running projects with support of finance / controlling.

·        Collaborates in defining New Processes – Cost Comparison, Time Study, Labour Requirement, Layout Changes, Product Storage/Kanban, Quality Rate and Equipment Investment.

·        Design / Concept phase – CATIA V5 / CPD, FEA: Femap, Altair / Hyperworks

·        Leading the quotations process (including supply chain settlement) from set up to the “Quotation Sign-off Process” in the Management Team

·        Setting up projects with the engineering team– by using the existing ERP system (Progress plus – P+)

·        Leading the Design / FEA sign-off for “Design Freeze Process”

·        Manage Customer Purchase Order Signing-off Process and Sales Order / Works Order generation with engineering team.

·        Leading the Project setup process including the work documentation for the life Works Orders
