We are currently recruiting a Machine Operator to work for a leading Aerospace customer of ours based in Southampton. The ideal candidate will have experience in drilling, tapping and reaming processes and will have produced parts to tight tolerances for the Aerospace sector.
The Role:
Working to schedule lists and work instructions with minimal supervision
Jig drill and tap holes in aircraft parts to drawing requirements in various materials including Aluminum, aircraft grade steels and Titanium
TPM on the machine and maintaining the high standard of cleanliness around the machine shop
Attending and contributing to daily shop floor production meeting
Alternative shift such as nightshift may also be required
Drill holes ranging in size from 1mm -50mm diameter with limits down to 0.01mm
Must be able to set pillar and radial drills to achieve drawing requirements.
A good knowledge of speeds and feeds would be advantageous
Qualifications / Experience:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) or served a recognised apprenticeship in machining or associated trades
Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
Must be prepared to work various shift patterns and overtime as required
Be able to communicate effectively with other departments as the need arises
Must be a team player, with a can-do attitude
Working understanding of the 5S and lean principles
Full understanding of engineering drawings
Must be able check their own work using standard dimensional checking equipment
Proven ability to actively participate in a team culture.
