We are currently recruiting a Machine Shop Assistant to work for a leading Aerospace customer of ours based in Southampton. The ideal candidate will be able to follow manufacturing drawings and carry out tasks based on engineering work instructions, although training will be provided for the right candidate.
The Role:
Fettling, linishing and dressing of machined metallic components
Ensure safe working when manual handling during linishing and fettling activities.
Use of air powered hand tools to polish and grind metallic surfaces within customer specifications and tolerances
Working with work instructions (manufacturing plans and engineering instructions)
Keeping bar store stock record
Be able to use basic measuring equipment (eg Micrometres, Vernier’s, Ruler/ Tape measure)
General housekeeping in the dressing and saw area
Forklift duties (Training will be provided at a suitable time)
Any other reasonable duties that fall in line with the level of the role
Qualifications / Experience:
Preferably NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) or served a recognised apprenticeship in machining or associated trades, or be happy to work towards this
Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
Be willing to be trained to hold a forklift license
Must be prepared to work various shift patterns and overtime as required
Must be a team player, with a can-do attitude
Proven ability to actively participate in a team culture.
