Our growing Automotive Technology business seeks an innovative and multi-skilled Procurement Manager to take responsibility of the procurement and purchasing of automotive components. You will ensure that the business has robust systems in place and lead the purchasing process from selecting suppliers to ensuring stock optimisation and performance management. Ensuring quality and control, you will be well-practiced in identifying new suppliers, negotiating new supplier arrangements, and setting procurement strategies, providing future proof planning to a rapidly growing international business. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop and lead a clear procurement strategy and manage all upcoming procurement projects.

  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers and develop strategies to monitor supplier performance and facilitate and lead performance actions plans.

  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products covering two warehouses / office locations.

  • Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of value, delivery schedules and quality.

  • Oversee all purchasing and tracking of spend, review and approve purchase orders within delegation of authority responsibility.

  • Forecast price trends and investigate supplier benchmarks, follow market trends for specific commodities and raw materials.

  • Run market tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors ensuring the security and sustainability of sources of essential products and services.

  • Analyse data and produce reports and statistics on spending and savings, giving presentations about market analysis and possible growth and produce management reporting and information in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Keep up to date with trends and innovation, regulation and new technology that can impact on the business.

  • Proactively seek out opportunities for the business to make immediate and long-term cost savings.

  • Advise colleagues on the appropriate procurement approach.

  • Develop key vendor business plans to generate sales growth.

  • Management, maintenance and recording of supplier contracts including service agreements, terms and conditions and product quality standards. 

Required Experience and Expertise: 

  • Experience in developing and running procurement systems and processes within an automotive or engineering environment.

  • Demonstration of delivery of continuous improvement within an automotive procurement function

  • Engineering knowledge and experience of buying in an engineering or automotive environment

  • Experience in ERP Systems

  • Highly analytical and a high level of competency using Microsoft Excel.

  • Time management skills and the ability to deliver to deadlines.

  • Ability to deploy a range of negotiation tactics and strategies to secure optimal outcomes.

  • Skilled in compiling tender and commercial documents 

The successful candidate is likely to have the following attributes: 

  • 5 years industry experience

  • Self-motivated and self-reliant. Capable of working independently or in a team as required.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast changing environment.
