​We are currently seeking a Senior Engine Validation Engineer to work for a cutting-edge clean technology company in South London.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to have a real impact on an organisation that is pioneering new scientific and engineering concepts.

Job Summary
Based within the Design, Mechanical & System Integration team, you will work closely with Simulation & Systems Development team and provide the interface for test validation activities across systems and subsystems.

While the focus of this role will be on engines for transport refrigeration systems, you will also support testing and validation of systems for other applications and support work within the Test and Build group to maintain and improve the quality of testing and test facilities

Person Specification
It is anticipated that you will be working at a Senior Engineer level in the Mechanical Design / Product Development & Integration in the Automotive / Engine Systems / Mechanical Validation Teams.

  • Familiarity with the engine and systems validation, durability testing methods

  • Problem solving techniques such as Ishikawa Diagrams, 8D

  • Experience with data analysis and report writing

  • A good fundamental understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics principles of conventional engines is required

  • Experience of managing other engineers is beneficial but not essential

  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have a proactive and professional attitude to all aspects of their work

Educational Qualifications Required:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working for an Engine/Vehicle OEM or Tier1 Supplier

Responsibilities:

  • To confirm the reliability of the company’s engine and associated hardware through a focused campaign of laboratory testing and statistical analysis

  • Establish Mechanical / System / Sub-Systems validation standards, write test plans and result analysis procedures to a higher standard

  • Working with colleagues who utilise advanced engineering software, identify the critical components and determine appropriate test campaigns to perform accelerated life tests

  • Ownership of test activities and results including documentation, archiving and technical reporting of the test results

  • Support the development of new testing facilities and procedures where necessary

  • Compliance with safe working practices as appropriate to the role

Flexible Working

The position is office based due to the test facilities/on system calibration requirements, with some flexibility working remotely
