We are currently seeking a Senior Telematics Engineer to work for a cutting-edge clean technology company in South London.

Job Summary
You will have responsibility for execution of work packages and tasks within the company’s main projects, relating to the design, development, prototyping and testing of Telematics systems for the company’s products and technology.
Your primary responsibility will be the software design of the Telematics unit of the company’s Telematics system which also includes liaising with the Telematics unit suppliers.
You will be expected to liaise with the design, development, project management, commercial, prototype and production manufacturing teams, technical partners, and suppliers to ensure the designs meet the requirements for timing, performance, manufacturability, and cost.
You will also support R&D activities and the development of tools and identify process/method gaps for continuous improvement of the company's Telematic systems.
Person Specification
It is anticipated that you will be an engineer with minimum 5 years’ experience in the Telematics system design.
You should have a further education qualification in engineering (Computer Science /Electronics/Electrical) either at graduate, postgraduate or HND/HNC level and have demonstrable experience working within a team environment.
A solid understanding of whole system/product development cycle is essential as well as a sound knowledge of software Development /Telematics system, delivery requirements, Telematics design tool development and integration, engineering release activities and change management processes.
In addition, the following attributes would be advantageous:
· Practical knowledge of Databases like SQL, Quest DB, Quasar DB or Microsoft Azure and UI/UX design
· Proficiency with server-side languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, PHP and .Net.
· Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g., HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)
· Knowledge of APIs (e.g., REST APIs) and how to use them effectively
· Experience of full product life-cycle activities and ability to achieve cost, weight, and technical targets within specified timescales
· Previous work within a multidiscipline engineering team
· Comfortable with debugging and profiling tools to track and solve issues in software
· Test the Telematics System to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
· Ability to upgrade/Troubleshoot and debug software and be able to specify and create security and data protection settings as necessary.
· Experience with source version control
· Knowledge of data analysis, visualization techniques, and frameworks.
· Proficiency in Telematics Software Design, ability to select new/use existing software for a given Telematics unit.
· Knowledge of Agile software development processes.
· Create and update technical documentation for the Telematics software
· Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
· Excellent problem solver, capable of thinking “outside the box”.
· Chartered or working towards chartered status desirable.
· A background in software development in front end/back-end systems in Telematics with a broad understanding of automotive/other vehicle systems.
· Experience with Lantronix hardware or Geotab would be a plus
